You should learn how to do research. Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information, it’s a joke since anyone, even YOU could edit at any time.
Here is a link to the actual paper at the UPenn library. Newcomb only mentioned Lanhley’s machine in the beginning since it was one attempt everyone was hearing about. The rest of the paper makes the argument that any heavier then air flight was impossible without MAJOR breakthroughs just as Zubrin is saying falsely is the case with hydrogen…
