I think it depends on the application.

Hydrogen might work for automobiles and/or mobile computers... But not for things like aircraft and/or aircraft carriers.

It just depends on the enrgy portability, availablity of other energy sources (to generate the H2), etc...

I don't plan on ever driving a hydrogen powered car, but someone living in an urban area might one day drive a hydrogen powered car, or ride a hydrogen powered bus (for pollution reasons).
