The peace in Iraq will be tough to establish. Clearly if we had mass bombed the cities of Iraq and had crushed the people of Iraq under a total victory that did distinguish combatants from civilians, a la WWII, we could have occupied Iraq like we did Germany. But we have chosen a better and tougher course. I would suggest to you as well that CNN is no more accurate now in its reports about Iraq than it was during the war when it gave numerous reports of the failure of the strategy. IOW, my bet is that the majority of Iraq and Iraqis are rebuilding their lives nased on the improvements the US provided in defeating the Baathist party fascists.
