"The EU is another Yugoslavia waiting to happen. Remove the strong arm and the factions reemerge. "

Well, I obviously disagree. It seems to me that the EU is getting it's act together and that the UK is having had a good affect on the process. The EU is probably a good place to invest International dollars at this point. As long as EU continues moving towards economic reform it should do fine.
As far as miltary power, the nuke card is still in play- the French if nothing else has nukes and it's in the middle of things- and everyone knows there is nothing to be gained by warfare- and they sure the hell would want to do anything to get the Americans involved, AGAIN. I think there is more chance of war breaking out in Canada or in California (the separatist movements) and that is highly unlikely.
If EU economic reform stalls then I still think it only becomes a matter decades into the future- and anything is possible in decades in the future. Of course, this doesn't mean they couldn't be a few major riots, and/or major terrorist incidents.
