I think you may have misunderstood my little dig at "Pentagonese". And I certainly wasn't casting aspersions at using an E.T. (can it phone home, btw?) as a defensive weapon of last resort, which I infer is the meaning of "Field Expedient".
Besides which - my post was about Weapons of Mass Death. Anything which only becomes a weapon in hand-to-hand combat cannot be a weapon of mass death. Chances are, you'll see the face of the person you must kill in order to keep from being killed. That's why they call it personal combat, I suppose, not having been there myself.
