Current Events » in reply to You missed the main point and dodged others

Which was easy, because there was no main point, nor any others

"The point is sane folks realize a balanced government has limitations in its ability to respond to local emergencies."

Oh, this is your point? Funny- your prior post was nothing but polemics, boldfaced hollering and bad analogies.

Go back and read my original post- because you are obviously missing the key points. When Chertoff, Brown and Bush are saying massively incorrect things 2 days after the disaster and 4-5 days after the disaster was reasonably predicted- then you can't say they are doing an 'adequate job'. If you really want to say that what we saw in the aftermath of Katrina was 'optimal FEMA response time and scale', then they can't be running around saying things like 'nobody could have guessed the levees would fail' and claiming to have only found out about the Convention Center 2 days after it was widely publicized as a shelter and evacuation point.

As for that the locals share some blame- sure. Never denied that. But as I said, they got ~400,000 people out of NO and put 100,000 in temporary shelters. I don't think they did the best they could have- but then neither did FEMA as evidenced by their albert-and-costello routine. Thats the point.

"The third point is FEMA doesn't have the resources to evacuate a large city on its own and can't be held accountable for casualties incurred because of poor local emergency planning."

Bullshit. In the event of a nuclear attack from terrorists, they would be tasked with exactly that. Where do you get this crap?

"The fourth point is demanding FEMA be prepared to helicopter drop within hours of a disaster, supply personnel to remove dead bodies, provide food and water for millions and have facilities to more sanitarily house hundreds of thousands of evacuees will require a whole new type of FEMA swallowing a whole lot more dollars."

Funny that, because federal troops and federal helicopters are evacuating local texas hospitals and nursing homes 48 hours before RITA is scheduled to make landfall. How do you fit this into your perposterous theories of how limited and powerless the federal response to disaster is??

Bullshit again.

"The fifth point is that those on the left who demanded that Bush respond sooner have no understanding of Federal/State power division and fail to see they are reall asking for an abridgement of states rights."

See above. Bullshit again. And Blanco wrote BEFORE the storm hit asking for a full federal response- thats a fact.

"The sixth point, the one you managed to notice, is that the left is acting like spoiled children "

I know SDAI, I know. just like with the whole hate polemics of yours... Its just so hard to deal with us when we are right and you don't have a leg to stand on. But thats okay, SDAI, it will get better. I promise

"The mirror principle has stuck with folks. I'm glad."

Only as a shining image of your complete hypocrisy and inability to, pardon the pun, reflect on your own actions.
