Baby steps, lets walk through this again

The Brown- Zahn interview was on september 1st Thursday.

The NO Convention center was announced as a sith for refuge and evacuation prior to the storm. The storm made landfall on the 29th. So there have been refugees there for 72 hours at the very least

Now, do you really mean to tell me that its not FEMAS job to find out about the local designated refuge points on the ground? And to not know about one of the TWO MAIN LOCATIONS 72 hours after the storm hits, and up to 96 hours after it was announced as a refuge point is excusable?

This just boggles my mind.

As to when the media started reporting on it: Using Google News I have pulled up 357 documents published between August 29th and August 30th that contain the phrase "Convention Center" and Katrina.

Now here is the fun part. Most of the links are now off line, because most of these servers only display content for a limited amount of time. So now its VERY easy for anyone to say: "The NO Convention Center was not reported on until the 1st", and NOT be easily contradicted factually. This is a smoke-and-miror game, and it does not surprise me that suddenly this 'meme' (as you would put it) that there was no coverage until such-and-such date is propagated a month after the 'such and such date' has passed, giving a patina of factuality to a re-write of history.

This is why I eschew Blogs, Brosz. Because more often than not I'm getting smoke and mirrors. Its easy to only read what you want to hear, its harder to do the leg-work and get the facts.
