re: Where is chicken little when we need her?

"The suspicion (certainty) that the levees would fail has been a fact for decades, yet they have never failed in the face of previous hits and near misses by other storms."

Not a category 3+, not since at least the 60s. So thats dumb reasoning when you know 48 hours ahead of time that a category 4-5 is going to nail you or hit you close enough to count.

"Bush that should have been screaming?"

Where do I say that bush/FEMA should have been screaming? I would have been happy with preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. They prepared for nothing and seemed to believe the levees wouldn't fail- or at least thats what Bush tells us.

"I will not defend the fired FEMA director since I don't really know what he knew and when he knew it but to say that he only learned of the Superdome refugees might have meant that he only learned of their plight. "

Frank, I'm sure he got fired for bad grooming habits. Yeah. Thats it.

And its not the superdome refugees that are in question here, its the convention center. Get your facts in order.

Look- I gave you a link several days ago in 'my thoughts' post where Brown stated what he knew and when he knew it. He was very very clear, and was questioned directly on that point by the interviewer. Go look at video stream I link to, its entirely unambiguous.

"A government is elected to do as much or as little as the people want it to do and are willing to pay for. If the government is seen as failing by a majority it will no doubt fall."

This is the 'hyper-real' government-as-media-organization thing that I was talking about. If thats the gov't you want, keep voting the neocon line.

I'll be working for somone else to win.
