Flame » in reply to I think Bush Sr. screwed up. He should have taken Saddam out.

You're not the only one who felt that way.

But there are complications. Bush Sr. really hated the complications.

9/11 shouldn't have happened with Saddam in power if he were acting to defuse Islamofacists. It did happen and so Saddam was expendable and now Iraq is terrorist/Islamofascist flypaper.

In 8 months it will be five years since the 2001 attack. Five years without a major attack on our soil succeeding. That alone will be a worthy accomplishment of the Bush administration.

2250 casualties? 12000 wounded? When compared to the casualties of a nuclear dirty bomb attack in DC or some other major city it pales in comparison.

Sure Iran's now getting out of hand. That was a complication Bush Sr. wanted to avoid. Sooner or later we have to deal with Iran too.

1979 was the wake up call. We've put it off for 25 years. However, the internet and freedom will do half our work for us. Many more folks now know how the west lives and they like it. That number is expanding exponentially.
