As I explained - I am an American. And here's the crux.

And, for instance, I do not see a difference between an IED exploded at a military convoy and which kills civilians AND

a 500 pound bomb dropped on a city.

In each case there will be innocent people killed. That is known in advance.

And in each case it is inexcuseable. In the case of the IED, i'd like to see a gruesome end to the perps.

I have more sympathy for the pilots. I would like to see the people who order those bombs dropped tried, though, for either war crimes or crimes against humanity.

Both - and.

I am an American. I served with my countries Armed Forces in wartime in combat. I've paid my dues, and was dumb enough to have done it willingly, even eagerly, at first.

I expect MY COUNTRY to behave at a very high standard. And it is my obligation to do my part to see that MY country is a good citizen. I don't expect as much from others, although I hope there are Bowsers over there bitching at them.

Because it is THEIR country.

That's as good a job as I can do explaining why I am critical of America, and the chicken-shit - hawks who did not serve in any way. They even complain about taxes. Go figure.
