Tony "I may have missed it, but who here said Bush and Rice could have prevented 9/11?
You were they one who thought the idea of flying planes into buildings absurd. Merely corrected you. Was not that absurd as posts show."
I have seen it posted here and elsewhere that Bush and Rice could have prevented 9/11. I don't know how we got way of on this tangent.
Art said it was absurd that terrorist would use nukes against America. I pointed out that, pre-9/11, people would have thought it absurd that terrorist would fly two planes into the WTC buildings. Fine, y’all don’t agree with that. How about this.
(And yes art, I think if Saddam had a nuke, and he thought he could sneak it into America he would. That is, if he didn’t go after Israel first. Al Qaeda would most certainly use a nuke against America if it got a chance.)
Terrorist will use nukes against America if they ever get a chance. It would be foolish for America to think otherwise. Why wouldn’t they?
Tony "The 9/11 attackers WERE spied on. The US had tabs on them on and off for ages. Putting two and two together to make four (or maybe 2.34568878755 and 1.65431121245) did not happen. Read the 9/11 commission report."
I have read that report (Not the whole thing). I don't remember that part, but I'll take your word. So you would agree the goverment did everything within its legal power to prevent 9/11 based on what it knew?
Tony "Do I support spying on terrorists? Abso-bloody-lutely.
Do I support spying on US citizens with possible connections to Al Qaeda? Sure. Get a warrant, otherwise 4th amendment and FISA laws apply."
Fare enough. I have no problems with them spying on Americans who are supected Al Qaeda, but that is me. I can understand how some might not like that.
Tony "We get back to the same question as detainees in Gitmo or Abu ghraib - How do you know they detainee is a terrorist (or suspect is linked to terrorists)? Because the government says so? "
They didn't get there being good little boys. I beleive the government has a good reason to hold them there.
Tony "Please try the George/Hillary thought experiment. See if you have the same comfort level."
I wish the Democrats would get that serious about American security.
