Hitler was...

..a clear threat to Europe.

In 1941 the Nazis could no more take over the US or Russia than fly to the moon.

Had Hitler been satisfied with Poland & Austria there's a good chance WWII would have been replaced with another war between France and Germany. Had Hitler played defensively instead of offensively at this point he could have easily held those conquests.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you wish to calculate the costs, Hitler had delusions of grandeur and involved Japan which involved the US.

Our Lend-lease act with Britain was an obvious act of war against Germany though. Roosevelt committed the US into the European war with that action. Many Americans who lost their sons and daughters never forgave Roosevelt for that. Not all, by any means, but many.

Roosevelt was sure as heck no Woodrow Wilson.
