You have some good points about Saddam, Art.

It is true Saddam’s nuclear weapons program was reduced to parts being hidden under a scientist garden (Thanks to the first Gulf War). I was thinking more along the lines of buying a nuke off someone.

Saddam is insane the way Hitler was, so I wouldn’t put it past him to pay someone to set of a suitcase nuke in New York City, if he thought he could get away with it.

One more disagreement.
Art, “At no time in his history did he ever show recklessness with regard to his own safety”

Violating the no-fly zone on so many occasions. Playing cat and mouse with UN inspectors. Invading Kuwait. Trying to Invade Iran. He did stuff like that seemed pretty reckless.

He could have lived comfortably and happy in his palaces, kept his head low, and he probably would have never gotten the US’s attention.

Perhaps it was his enormous pride. He saw himself almost as a God to his people.
