You were they one who thought the idea of flying planes into buildings absurd. Merely corrected you. Was not that absurd as posts show.

The 9/11 attackers WERE spied on. The US had tabs on them on and off for ages. Putting two and two together to make four (or maybe 2.34568878755 and 1.65431121245) did not happen. Read the 9/11 commission report.

Do I support spying on terrorists? Abso-bloody-lutely.
Do I support spying on US citizens with possible connections to Al Qaeda? Sure. Get a warrant, otherwise 4th amendment and FISA laws apply.

We get back to the same question as detainees in Gitmo or Abu ghraib - How do you know they detainee is a terrorist (or suspect is linked to terrorists)? Because the government says so?
Please try the George/Hillary thought experiment. See if you have the same comfort level.
