"Are you sure Hitler was a threat to the rest of the world."(?)

I find it hard to believe that you need a refresher on the basics of World War II, Robert, but here goes.

Hitler didn't just invade his neighbors, his declared intent, in his writings and speeches about liebensraum and the "manifest destiny" of the German people, was to use his neighbors as stepping stones to conquer the world.

Saddam Hussein had wars with two of his neighbors, and neither was over territory. Saddam wasn't out to expand into Iran, and he invaded Kuwait in a dispute over oil drilling rights.

There was a clear cassus belli for at least a year prior to the US entry into WWII. Our formal allies from the previous war were being conquered, and our special ally, Mother England, was fighting for its life. When the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor finally cleared the air, we jumped in determined to catch up.

Saddam gave us cause to attack when he invaded our ally Kuwait in 1991. Who did he invade in 2003?

Hitler was developing weapons designed to attack the United States. In addition to the V2 program's goal of producing an ICBM capable of reaching North America, the Sanger space plane was intended to haul bombs across the Atlantic to drop on the US East Coast. The Germans were working to develop nuclear weapons to be delivered by those systems.

Saddam was trying to adapt an ultralight airplane to drop gas cannisters several hundred miles away.

Sorry, Robert, but I find it just too ridiculous to inflate Saddam Hussein into Hitler. The facts don't come close to supporting that view. Saddam was a wannabe, a cargo cultist who thought that if he made crude representations of the weapons of a great power, it would make him great by sympathetic magic. The results were merely pathetic, and hardly terrifying.
