I'll tackle the second question
and stay far away from the first.
The message form copies your message to the clipboard (when you're using IE) to give you a backup copy in case the post doesn't go through (seems to happen once in a thousand posts or so, anecdotally). You can try again, and just paste your text instead of trying to remember it and retype it.
