In 1885, the freed slaves still were scared silly when they saw a guy rattling chains from a soap box.

Historically, as regards to religious power in government, the masses of Americans and other church/state separation peoples are living in the global equivalent of that 1885.

Seeing a bunch of kids whose parents were slaves freak out is par for the course.
