re: Sounds like Religious Fundamentalists of ANY kind!

I think the Mormons are the smartest of the bunch although that idiot that started it all was simply a snake oil salesman. They understand the long haul. They understand the dynamics between the sexes and the appeal of strong family to American women. They know that male domination is a segment of our society that we have never successfully gotten past in our programming and exploit it marvelously.

And, they demand loyalty. There is rarely a member that ever leaves on good terms. When they do depart they are completely isolated from the people that have been a part of their life. Questioning the dogma (especially publicly) is absolutely not tolerated. It nearly always ends in excommunication.

They understand the economic strength of discrimination in hiring and promotion within their businesses.

Even though their recruitment seems to be non-confrontational believe me it is the most aggressive of all the religions as far as its goals. Whoever the marketers are behind the scenes, they really know their stuff. Almost every piece of genealogical information in the country today has had major input from the Mormon church and they know when you go off looking for it. The Mormons probably know more about your total family than any person within your family or the government.

Although they haven't really used their growing power for evil yet in our lifetimes (they do have a massacre to answer for in the 1800's), the potential for significant clout exists if they keep padding their numbers to the extent they seem to be aiming for. I'm not advocating discrimination. If they don't get pushy with me, they are free to believe whatever they want although I think eventually we'll have to confront any religion that advocates plopping out huge numbers of babies. What I do recommend though is keeping a watchful eye on them and treat them for the cult they seem to be.
