I'm doing my share for the bridges then...

I knew if you got involved it would save me a lot of time in answering MA about the bridges. Besides she gets angrier at me for some reason when I make any sort of proclamation.

I guess it's time to get that 8 litre, 6mpg Viper I've been eyeing so that MA's bridges are fixed post haste. ;-)

If folks want to believe Bush is a monster that's fine. I see his terms in a fairly balanced manner and the tax cuts aren't a problem - it's that nothing has been done to effectively block the 1 million job-takers that come in each year.

The equivalent population of our 7th largest city is "imported" every two years into the US - naturally our economy is experiencing the chain reaction of lowered incomes from the blue collar sector on up and as these dollars flow out of the country. I lay that at Bush's feet. He knows about it, has received countless thinktank alerts about the ramifications and has simply sat on his hands.

Sure it's, individually, possible to get rich when one knows how to exploit foreign markets and currency disparities - but the majority of Americans will get poorer and poorer, less appliances and technology will be sold, less cars will be sold because of the lowering incomes and then more folks are laid off and replaced with the slave labor factories that can be found south of our border.

I'm watching it happen sector by sector - and it disturbs me, because I see no reversible trend whatsoever to correct the movement.

If a Democrat is elected, I expect no further movement on the matter either, only the reactionary tax increases on "the rich" which has never effectively reached the rich, only the middle and upper middle classes which are not rich enough to relocate and secure their wealth.

Watching the property taxes bite the middle class right now is also painful and Bush's mortgage policy is a loser, saving the folks who are still actually getting by, which doesn't seem like real relief. Ham-handed government interference is worse than no interference at all.

So Bush has been ineffective in lots of areas, and as a result, is a disappointment to true fiscal conservatives wanting to bring the economy back and keep our industrial might dominant. However, the tax-cut is not on the list of his failures and is on the short list of his accomplishments.
