Infinite regression
That's your mythology and your faith, Tom, expressed with the same simplistic certainty as any other religious dogma.
The thing you're overlooking (perhaps due to those subconscious authoritarian instincts) is that government is not God. Self-government means we're taking our destiny in our hands and not submitting to the inexplicable whims of a deity. Government in America doesn't just happen, and the Constitution is not chiseled into a stone tablet brought down from the Mount by latter-day Moseses. Humans designed it, wrote it down, and are implementing it.
I'll take government as the solution over God as the solution any day.
