"Religious tolerance" allows the practice of any religion, or the practice of no religion at all, without fear of persecution by either the State or the citizenry.
It does not rob me of my right to complain about anyone else putting their religion in my face. It's doubly galling when the ones most prone to be in my face (and the country's) practice the least tolerant form of their religion: the form which allegedly rewards its members for "the conversion of the Jews," and other non-Christians, and which condemns everyone not a member to the worst afterlife imaginable -- such as, when Gov. Rick Perry (R, TX) publicly stated his belief in that very condemnation.
And it is a sad -- no, I'll say "pathetic", and mean it -- comment on our society that public figures feel the need to wrap themselves in the Cross, the way they do in the Flag.
Remind me: did Joe Lieberman feel compelled to go through this "show religiosity" shtick when he ran for VP?
