Polls
gb, I tried to search for polls that would back your claim that
Bush strength is that has high favorable rating in trustability and telling the truth, it is because this fact as shown in the polls,
...and I'm afraid there's nothing out there to back up your claim. In a Google search on "Bush poll trustworthiness", the search produced three classes of poll results:
--Pre-9/11: In a May 2001 poll, 53% of respondents to a Time/CNN poll said that they had "doubts and reservations about whether or not Mr Bush was a leader they could trust." (reported in Guardian online)
--During last year's election, numerous polls asked about relative trustworthiness compared to Kerry, and Bush tended to score a little better, typically 47+/40-.
--Recent polls are sparse. In an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll in July, people were asked if they consider Bush honest and straightforward; 41 percent said yes, 45 percent no. That's a significant drop since January, when it was 50% yes. (As reported by The Washington Post)
I couldn't find even one poll showing a high trustability rating, and certainly couldn't find consistent results across the years across multiple polls.
I think what this really illustrates is that trust of Bush is strictly a partisan thing. That's bad for America--Bush possesses the "bully pulpit", and yet, even in times of war, he hasn't managed to unite the country behind him. That's a failure of leadership.
This [polls] is the only factor behind leading Dems claiming that Bush is a liar.
'Fraid not, gb. People besides Republicans distrust Bush because he's made false statements too many times. My reasons for distrusting Bush have nothing at all to do with polls; I'm not a herd creature (look at my last name!).
