Oil-producer Iraq invaded neighboring oil-producer Kuwait in a dispute primarily over oil, dressed up in the claim that Kuwait is a long-lost province of Iraq. Oil-consumer America joined with its major oil-producing ally Saudi Arabia and various European oil-consuming nations to throw Iraq's forces out of oil-producer Kuwait.
