"Oh c'mon, do you really think that the press is to blame for Bush's falling approval ratings? What's the explanation when the poll numbers go up? One minute you're maintaining that polls can't be trusted, then in the next paragraph you're celebrating a poll showing good numbers for Bush. Can you see the contradiction?"
I can't trust the polls. I can't trust the press. "Fake but accurate", look how they cover stories, listen to what they say. They stand in hurricanes and think they are reporting the news. They are entertaining, mostly. They are biased, they don't report anything much of value.
Why is this type of story, news, and not if the President were a democrat. If Clinton had some low rating on something they wouldn't blame Clinton, rather it's some strange thing happenning in society. With the conclusion being some bone fuck socialist program is obviously THE ANSWER.
"Take your thesis to its ultimate conclusion: All polls are meaningless because either A) the numbers are directly manipulated by "The Press"; or B) the numbers are accurate but "The Press" has manipulated the attitudes of people. So then what does anything else in your post matter? Bush's approval rating, support for the war, historical polls about Clinton and other Presidents...all bullshit, if you're to be believed. Why bother? How do you find the will to get up in the morning?"
Polls can be meaningless if you don't know the details of how the poll was conducted and relevant information regarding it. The excuse that it's too much wordage and readers aren't interest in these details, might work for print or TV, but it doesn't work when it's on the internet. Polls can be useful and can be very accurate if done correctly.
"Do you realize how thoroughly you've been snowed by the Right's propaganda machine? The endless drumbeat through the years about media bias was designed to make you trust only one source of information: The Right's propaganda machine itself. Reality is, for you and the rest of the Right, only what they say it is. They've played a very ugly trick on you, Geoff, and I wish you could see it."
Oh, goody, Robert will save me from some horrible fate. Quick, Robert, where is this propaganda machine, that I'm somehow unaware of?
Is it CSPAN? Charlie Rose? The Daily Show [it's my favorite, so it has got to be, THE ANSWER. How do they do it? They so tricky, aren't they? Because I actually think it's got a bias to the left- oh the humanity]. Please Robert, tell me how can aviod their ugly tricks.
Or Perhaps it is some blog? Is it Instapundit? Drudge? It can't be the BBC, can it? Oh, these people are so clever.
Wait. I watch Meet the Press almost religiously. That *has* to be it, right? How do they it- it's done only once a week. Are they using bright flashes?
