The major issue is that the other moderators had not made a similar commitment. Their support for Robert suggested they might make the same mistake.

The few times any of the rest of us have made any remarks at all from the moderator chair, we have all followed the protocol of putting the word "moderator" after our names, except for RL, who has made a whole new name for himself that incorporates part of the word, i.e., "ModBob". This "new idea" is already in practice for the rest of us. What do you want, that we should all make statements to the effect that we intend to change our collective behavior to reflect what we are already doing?

Robert is the only one who hadn't adopted that practice because he had another practice, of long custom: using his full name to indicate when he was posting as moderator. He is adopting the explicit use of the word not merely to placate you, but to make things clearer in the event that someone doesn't understand past practice, and to use a method already in use by the newer moderators so as to make it simple and consistent.

Has anyone ever been able to x-ray your head? Doesn't the lead skull interfere?
