Yo Lindy!
"Shock and awe" was for while Saddam was in power -and it worked. Saddam's forces ran or melted away from the battle scenes in short order.
The whole shock and awe thing was designed to SAVE LIFE.
Blowing up buildings, palaces and things in big pyrotechnic displays was considered far better than killing every last Iraqi in a street by street battle as was done in WWII by the Allies in Germany.
As time has past "shock & awe" has been turned into something supposedly like the "final solution" or "carpet bombing" when it was exactly the opposite!
How quickly folks forget!
And how quickly some folks WANT to forget!
;-)
