"Our military actions are creating the terror problem"

"Our military actions are creating the terror problem" is another example of trying to put words in the mouths of Democrats.

What Democrats and others (a lot of others, by now) are actually saying is that Bush's avowed strategy of making Iraq "the frontline of the war on terror" is creating new fighters who answer the siren call of liberating an Arab nation from the "Crusaders". Those foreigners aren't fighting for ObL's manifesto; they're mostly Syrians and Jordanians who think they're repelling a foreign invader in the country next door, and Palestinians responding to the linkage "Zionism + Crusaders". They're not actually terrorists, but for this argument let's go along with Bush's practice of labelling anyone who fights US forces a "terrorist".

However, interrogations of nearly 300 Saudis captured while trying to sneak into Iraq and case studies of more than three dozen others who blew themselves up in suicide attacks show that most were heeding the calls from clerics and activists to drive infidels out of Arab land, according to a study by Saudi investigator Nawaf Obaid, a US-trained analyst who was commissioned by the Saudi government and given access to Saudi officials and intelligence.

A separate Israeli analysis [by Global Research in International Affairs] of 154 foreign fighters compiled by a leading terrorism researcher found that despite the presence of some senior Al Qaeda operatives who are organizing the volunteers, 'the vast majority of [non-Iraqi] Arabs killed in Iraq have never taken part in any terrorist activity prior to their arrival in Iraq.'

Studies: War radicalized most foreign fighters in Iraq, Christian Science Monitor July 2005

Or consider this: Zarqawi was officially credited with recruiting a lot of "terrorists". If they were recruited, then they weren't previously terrorists, were they? Sounds like the creation of new terrorists to me.

There were X number of terrorists in the world before Bush invaded Iraq. Now there are N*X terrorists in the world (according to Bush's own expansive definition of "terrorist"). It's not rocket science.
