re: Hate & Ignorance

Let's just take one of your examples, the teacher getting knifed on their first day of work in the hood. You'd have a valid point if all teachers that sacrificed peace of mind and salary and tried to make the world a better place by working in underpriviledged schools were knifed or beat up during their tenure but it simply isn't the case. It happens rarely.

The guy that did the knifing of course has personal responsibility and is a despicable criminal but all those other teachers that survive and show compassion and dignity to these kids that don't see it at home do make a difference. So would your solution be to burn down the school the first time a knifing takes place or have armed troops patrolling the hallways forever to prevent a criminal act from ever taking place again?

Tell me how you'd view a teacher that entered the classroom every day with a 45 on their belt. Oh, they'd explain to you that it's only there to protect them but somehow I don't think it'd be the message the kids got. Instead it'd be the only way to deal with the world's problems is through strength and violence.

It takes two to tango SDAI and I'll never argue that the murdering thugs in Iraq have any right to do the terrible things they do. My argument is that our actions do have consequences and no matter who's to blame, the ends here are simply not justifying the means. It's like hitting bees that land on your head with a hammer. Yeah, you kill the bees but you inflict more damage on yourself in the end.
