the record
I don't have an easy way to count posts/thread, but a close approximation is the size of the file containing thread data, which lets us judge the scale of the battle by counting how many bullets were fired. If you had a hunch that this would be the biggest flame thread, you were close: It ranks second at around 300 kilobytes (so far), behind a spectacular post-Iraq War flame about (with sad irony) napalm (411 KB).
To beat that record Mark and I would have to fire off verbiage equivalent to more than a third of what's been written so far with everybody working diligently at it. I seriously doubt I have it in me, and hey, I don't figure I'll need nearly a hundred thousand characters to do the job anyway.
