I have no doubt many would consider Gary's comment offensive. Since when is giving offense been used as a means to restrict commentary around here? Bowser's posts are nearly 100% meant to be offensive on CE. There are examples all over the place that are clearly meant to be offensive by him and others that don't get moderator slaps on the wrist. There are a hell of a lot of us deeply ofended by posters making commentary supoorting terrorists, but you don't see us crying for the posters to be censored, banned or deleted on such a basis.
