re: Oh, I'm sooooo SORRY

"You are really confused, Mark. The term "treason" has a very special and specific meaning, and describes a criminal act. You yourself demonstrated in all your ranting that there are many alternative ways to express your displeasure with the political opinions of others, expressions that don't rise to the level of an accusation of a capital crime. Your choice (and Gary's) to use the term signals your intention to try and threaten the other person with criminal prosecution and even death for holding the opinions they do. That's the special meaning of "treason". If you and Gary don't really mean to accuse people of a crime, as you claim, then you can easily avoid the word "treason" with absolutely no abridgment of your right of free speech."

Treason does have a "very special and specific meaning" but this is not the only definition of treason or even the most common usage of the word.
In law, you could have a law that says, only if treason is commited on Tuesdays, can a person be found guilty of treason.

But treason is treason whether it's done on wednesday or saturday.
OJ murdered his wife, no court ruling can change this. That the jury is too stupid to come to this conclusion has nothing to do with it. Treason is treason regardless of how the law may define it in order to try and punish someone. But IF we were pack of lawyers discussing law, then your assumption that Gary was using a specific definition of treason as defined in law could be valid [but only if done on Tuesday].
