Treason is a crime.

US Constitution, Article III, Section 3, par. 1:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

(For background on the judicial interpretation of this Section concerning the true nature of "aid and comfort", please see Findlaw: U.S. Constitution: Article III: Annotations p. 24 of 25.)

You can be accused of being many things. A boogerhead, for instance. But you can't be convicted of something unless it is a crime. Note that "convicted" is the verb used in the Constitution.

"The internet" is a dubious authority, and your citation is, to put it kindly, imprecise. The Constitution is a solid one. Overruled.
